Woven with hand-dyed wool and copper wire, cut and sewn
I immigrated to Vancouver city when I was 14, a time of curiosity, conflicting emotions and a time for absorbing new experiences and ideas. As an artist now, the climactic point of my inspiration always comes with nostalgia from sound, colour, scent, people’s stories, memories from childhood, and revisiting my Oriental culture.
The reason for me to be an artist is simply because I enjoy the process of making and expressing the appreciation towards all the cultures that I have been involved with; through my work I like to express the harmony of Oriental and Western aesthetics. I want my works to be able to tell my stories and make other people want to tell their stories.
